Virgin River Canyon National Recreation Area 

straddles Interstate Highway 15 one and a half hours from Vegas. It is located in a corner of Arizona as I15 passes from Nevada into Utah. The Virgin River has cut a deep canyon and left an exquisite sight for us to drive through. In the middle of the canyon is a camping area that is well worth exiting the freeway to see. Drive into the camping areas to view the river, unusual rock formations and the brilliant colors. Bring a snacks and water because there are no services in the Virgin River Canyon However, a few miles before reaching the canyon is Mesquite NV where there are many restaurants and Casinos. Since this site is on the way to Snow Canyon or Zion National Park, enjoy the Virgin River Canyon as part of these day trips.
