Colorado River National Recreational Arealeaves the mountains and flows south through Utah. At the Grand Canyon the river once again flows west and then north as it empties into Lake Mead. After the Hoover Dam, the Colorado River once again flows south through the volcanic mountains of Nevada and Arizona as part of the Lake Mead Recreational Area. This video explores the Colorado River south of the Dam. There is an easy access to the river at Willow Beach which is an offshoot of US Route 93 south of Hoover Dam. The irregular black volcanic rocks that surround the rivers are starkly beautiful. Although there is always a substantial water level, there is little greenery along the banks.
